The Rochester Mini Maker Faire and NYSCATE support creativity in all forms. One such form is using photography to create digital storytelling. This is why we are pleased to announce that Plasq has donated a 30 computer license for Comic Life 3 for Mac or Windows. ( http://plasq.com/apps/comiclife/macwin ) to give away!

We are going to give this 30 computer license away to a school district to foster the creativity it can inspire both in and out of the regular school curriculum. So teachers and students, bring your Makers to the Rochester Mini Maker Faire by applying for a FREE booth. What is a Maker? Go here to find out more: http://goo.gl/wV5zd9

All school groups and individual young maker booths (ages 8 to 18) that exhibit at the Rochester Mini Maker Faire will be entered to win for their school. We will have the drawing at 4 PM on Saturday Nov 21, 2015 at the Rochester Mini Maker Faire.

Apply for a booth to present now at: https://goo.gl/6R4p5W

Here is a link to the flyer. Please print it out or download it and forward it to your closest school! Help us get the word out!

Community Meeting 1

Our first of three community meetings leading up to the Rochester Mini Maker Faire took place on August 22, 2015 at the Rochester Makerspace. We had over 16 people in attendance. After the meeting some people stayed for a tour of the Rochester Makerspace, and a couple of us even stayed for the workshop on creating your own printed circuit boards (that was way cool by the way).

The Rochester Makerspace is a gem to have in a city where once you are a member there are tons of tools to use for projects, supplies, help, activities, get together, and workshops. If you live near the Rochester Makerspace consider becoming a member or at least visiting on their weekly night that is open to the public. They were a great host for our meeting, and they will be at the Rochester Mini Maker Faire. You can find more information on their website: http://www.rochestermakerspace.org/

If you would like to read through the presentation used at Community Meeting 1, please follow this link to view it in PowerPoint online: http://1drv.ms/1fB8BVt

On Sept 1st we will be reviewing our current list of applications and extending early invitations to those we select. We will be doing the same on Oct 1st, and again on the final deadline date of October 15th, 2015.

SAVE THE DATE - 2015 Second Annual Rochester Mini Maker Faire

The 2015 Rochester Mini Maker Faire will be held on Saturday November 21, 2015 from 9 AM to 5 PM.

We are pushing to make the Rochester Mini Maker Faire bigger and better than last year’s faire. We are taking into account feedback that we have gotten from our Makers as well as attendees that took the time to complete surveys. Thank you all for the great feedback as it helps in planning for the 2015 faire.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates in the months, weeks, and days ahead.

The Rochester Makerspace posted a ton of photos from the first Rochester Mini Maker Faire on January 11th, 2015! These photos are really well done by Tharin Maddox. Check them out at: http://www.rochestermakerspace.org/maker-faire-2014-photos/#

2 Days Away! Get your Tickets Online and Save Money!!

Hello everyone!

We are putting the finishing touches on the Rochester Mini Maker Faire so it has been a very busy past week. But we are happy to say that we are only two days away and everything is looking good!

Just a reminder that over 80% of our booths are absolutely free to participate. We do have a little less than 20% that are selling items that they have made. You may want to do a little shopping and beat the Black Friday rush while at the Faire. Regardless we want to save you money on the entrance fee.

The Advance Tickets are heavily discounted from the at the door price. Where else can you take the entire family, 2 adults, 3 kids ages 5 to 18, and kids under 4 are free . . for just $30 for a Family Pass? At the door the price goes up to $45! Save $15 for your family and buy the ticket online. You get a PDF that you print out, and we simply scan it at the door. It will also speed your entry as you won’t have to stand in the line for ticket purchases.

The Advance single ticket is $7. At the door it is $12! You can save $5 per single ticket by purchasing tickets online! And just like with the Family Pass, you will get into the Faire faster through the ticket scanning line.
